Indian Football Players Lead Defensive Record-Breaking Season
Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) has made history in the Indian Super League (ISL) with an outstanding defensive performance. With 14 of the team’s 42 goals this season coming from defenders—a new ISL record—the contributions of Indian football players have played a pivotal role. This achievement surpasses the previous record of eight goals by Chennaiyin FC in the 2017-18 season.
Subhasish Bose: Leading Indian Football Player in ISL 2024-25
At the heart of this success is Indian football player Subhasish Bose, who has scored six goals—the highest ever by a defender in a single ISL season. Known for his aerial dominance, Bose has won 52 aerial duels and showcased exceptional positioning, particularly during set-pieces. His defensive skills are equally impressive, with seven interceptions in a match against Hyderabad FC—a league-high this season. Bose has also recorded 39 tackles and 43 interceptions, ranking among the league’s top performers.
Alberto Rodriguez and Tom Aldred Boost Defensive Firepower
Supporting Bose is Alberto Rodriguez, who has scored five goals, including four from corners, highlighting the team’s effectiveness in dead-ball situations. Alongside Rodriguez, Tom Aldred, a recent addition from the A-League, has contributed two goals and leads the team with 13 blocks this season.

I have had conversations with some of the foreign players about how Indian players could play in Europe. I feel their levels are very good,” said Aldred. His comments underscore the growing reputation of Indian football players, both domestically and internationally.
Dippendu Biswas: Rising Star Among Indian Football Players
A standout Indian football player in MBSG’s defensive lineup is 21-year-old Dippendu Biswas. His defensive contributions include 13 tackles, 36 duels won, 31 recoveries, and 28 clearances. Biswas has also showcased his attacking potential, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
